Оценив полученные данные, ученые выяснили, что депрессией, связанной с рождением ребенка, страдали 10,4% отцов. При этом у наименьшего количества мужчин (7,7%) указанное психическое расстройство развилось в первые три месяца после появления потомства. Большинство отцов (25,6%) страдали от депрессии в интервале 3-6 месяцев после рождения детей.
Авторы научной работы отметили важность совершенствования методов диагностики , так как развитие психических расстройств у родителей негативно сказывается на эмоциональном и физическом состоянии детей.
